Evaluation Question 2

https://prezi.com/view/m4ZQmRghvua310UY6MvW/ Above is a link to my second evaluation question, which discusses how my main product and ancillary texts link together. This task was done in a prezi format as the design that I used, allows me to discuss different elements and then compare the products that I have created.

Evaluation Question 1

With this evaluation question I put my documentary I created about codes and conventions and also included my own music video. However due to the software I have at home, I was not able to crop parts of my music video and compare them to original codes and conventions. Therefore I revisited codes and conventions, looked at my own music video and evaluated where I have conformed or challenged conventions. Evaluation question 1 from Chloe Owen

Music Video

Image
Above is my finalized music video for the song 'dancing shoes' by Arctic Monkeys. I have included codes and conventions of the indie genre but also challenged certain conventions in order to create a successful music video and appeal to my demographic, by using elements of their feedback from audience research in the planning.

Summary Of Codes And Conventions Documentary

Artist Identity

My artist's identity reflects the idea of freedom and being able to express oneself. Within my video I wish to show how hard it is to express yourself when being a woman or any other self identity. There are many negative representations of women and stigma attached to the clothing that they wear. Therefore I believe that creating this music video has allowed for my demographic to understand a lot more about self identity. Cream Rustic Spa Makeover Party Photo Collage by Chloe Owen

Audience Feedback

For my music video I may use younger people or older people. Although the demographic is 17 year old's (or younger), I believe that the demographic will be able to relate to the song no matter what age the person is within the music video. Mainly females answered my questionnaire, this suggesting that only females are interested in engaging with more interactive things, as this survey was posted on social media; it shows that men are more passive and docile while women prefer to engage with activities. The main response to Young and Rubicam's 4c's model, people responded mostly as The Struggler. This links to the narrative of the indie genre as they mainly ...

Permission To Use Single

Above is an email where I have contacted the record label in order to gain permission to use the single 'dancing shoes' within my music video.

Final Digipak

Digipak by Chloe Owen Above is my final 6 paneled digipak for my music video. I have decided to go with this design as; it takes elements from all 3 of my plans and is rearranged to form an indie style digipak. My bands name is at the top of the digipak which is conventional for this genre so therefore I have conformed to the conventions in this sense, the images of Shannon both challenges and conforms to conventions; it challenges it in a way that it is normally images of the band that is used but also it conforms to the conventions as Shannon is not directing the audience which is typical of the indie genre as they focus on the narrative, and not really addressing the audience.

Final Advert

T H E 3 by Chloe Owen My final advert was created from looking back at my analysis of adverts and digipaks to see what was typical of the indie genre. I found that the front cover of the album was used but transformed to look like an advert, therefore I have manipulated my front cover in the form of an advert. However I have not included elements such as; "listen now on spotify" or "download now on itunes", as this was not coventional during my research and in order to create a ancillary product that reflects my genre I believe that for an advert the conventions need to be followed rather than putting labels on it and making it look more like a pop genre advert. My advert merely reflects Arctic Monkeys "AM" advert as the layout/format of my advert looks similar to the AM advert.

Institutions: Record Label

Institutions Record Label from Chloe Owen Above is an embedment of my powerpoint presentation which was uploaded to slideshare. As this isn't very detailed due to the record label being slightly older than newer record labels that have evolved. I have included basic information on the record label and why the record label would be suitable for my artist.

Expressionist Dance Influence

Image
After researching "expressionist dance", this is what I came across. I shared this video with Shannon and asked whether these kinds of moves would be possible to do within my music video. However with Mary Wigman, her dance moves reflect the sort of music that she is dancing to. Whereas in my music video the dance moves that Shannon will be doing will juxtapose the music, as the music is very fast pased and the dance moves being fairly slow. Thus meaning that I will have to use my editing skills to help me to coordinate and compose my music video.

Music Video Structure Analysis- Including Goodwins Ideas

Above is an embedment of my prezi which focuses on the key codes and conventions of this particular music video, after analysing the structure of the music video, I applied Goodwin's ideas to understand what catergories the video fits into and the ones that it does not. By using prezi it allows the audience to follow the information clearly, and is more interactive rather than clicking through a powerppoint presentation.

Institutions: Music Channel

Above is an embedment of my video that I created on powtoon. Powtoon is a more interactive and creative way of presenting information, as opposed to a general powerpoint presentation; therefore this is why I chose to use the software.
