"Meaningful lyrics" was the response that the
demographic would expect to see within an indie genre music video. During my
research into analysing indie music videos, I found that indie music videos do
have meaningful narratives, therefore when I create my music video, the
demographic will be fulfilled in what they are consuming as that is what they
expect to see. 67% of respondents said that they would expect to see light colours
in an indie music video. However when I researched and analysed indie music
video I found that mainly darker colours were used, however as the demographic
have responded that they would expect light colours, therefore within my music
video I can challenge the conventions that are used in indie music videos by
using light colours rather than darker colours.
When analysing music videos I found that narrative was the
most important aspect in an indie genre music video, although the demographic
have responded with that they prefer both narrative and performance, so again
challenging the conventions of an indie music video.
People also responded that the clothing they associate with
was jeans which 13 people voted for, 10 people responded with coats and
jackets, 9 people responded with accessories such as sunglasses along with
another 9 people who voted for shirts so with very close numbers I can use
these responses in order to create costumes for my 'artists' that are going to
feature in my music video.
The main response was that people do use social media to
follow their favourite bands/artists, so in order to make my music video
appealing to my demographic; I believe that it should be in a format that can
be shared across all social media websites. Therefore this increases the
promotion of my music video and the band themselves.
The lyrics were seen to be the aspect that most attracts the
demographic to the music they are listening to, therefore just like in the
responses from other questions the narrative has got to relate to the target
audience and be about "romance" as that was seen to be the aspect
that they would most associate with the indie genre.
I decided to format this questionnaire electronically as it
can be shared on different social media, and attract our target audience. If I
was to do a paper format questionnaire, I believe that many people would just
throw it away and I would have not received as many responses as I did, this is
due to media saturation. I attracted the demographic as I asked them about what
they would want to see/ what the best aspects are or the location most
associated with indie genre music videos and asked them their opinions so it
would appeal to them, so from their music video experience they were able to
reflect upon that to help me produce a conventional or unconventional music
video dependent upon the responses I have received, but with aspects they would
want to see and exclude parts that they wouldn't enjoy.
I found that within my research my demographic found that in indie music videos there are many quick shots, so I will use this feedback and apply it into creating my music video.
The demographic found that the lyrics attracted them to the indie genre, so I will therefore choose a song where the lyrics can be interpreted into many different meanings.Lastly, the Arctic Monkeys 'AM' was the most appealing advert and would persuade them to buy the advert. Therefore, I will use this layout to produce my ancillary texts in order for it to appeal to my demographic.

The majority of respondents who have answered this questionnaire
are 17 years old or younger; this tells me that my target audience is aimed at
adolescences. For my music video I may use younger people or older people.
Although the demographic is 17 year old's (or younger), I believe that the
demographic will be able to relate to the song no matter what age the person is
within the music video.
Mainly females answered my questionnaire, this suggesting
that only females are interested in engaging with more interactive things, as
this survey was posted on social media; it shows that men are more passive and
docile while women prefer to engage with activities.
The main response to Young and Rubicam's 4c's model, people
responded mostly as The Struggler. This links to the narrative of the indie
genre as they mainly talk about real life problems and narratives that people
can relate to. Therefore as the demographic responded in the perception that
they see themselves as strugglers, the genre I have chosen and then song that I
intend to use will relate to them.

People responded that their favourite band was Oasis;
consequently I will be creating a music video to an Oasis song in order to
appeal to my demographic.
The main response for what the demographic would expect the
narrative to be was "romance", in addition to the response beforehand
when choosing a song to create a music video to, the band should be Oasis and
the narrative should be about romance in order to appeal to the target
audience.
When analysing music videos I found that narrative was the
most important aspect in an indie genre music video, although the demographic

challenging the conventions of an indie music video.
People responded that they do expect the artist to be in the
music video but not all the time. So in order to appeal to my demographic, I
will have to choose someone as the main vocalist and create them to be in the
music video but not all the time. I also need to make the main artist recognizable
to the demographic so they can understand that they are the main artist and not
just a band member.
People also responded that the clothing they associate with

another 9 people who voted for shirts so with very close numbers I can use

feature in my music video.
The location that the demographic would expect an indie
genre to be set in would be "the streets", after analysing and
researching conventions of an indie music video, easily accessed locations are
used therefore adding another convention to my music video.

Quick cuts were the response that the demographic would
expect to see in an indie genre music video. This is conventional as when I
explored and analysed indie genre music videos, I found that a lot of quick
cuts between shots were used, this creating a conventional aspect that I can
include in my music video and it will also appeal to the demographic.
The lyrics were seen to be the aspect that most attracts the
demographic to the music they are listening to, therefore just like in the
responses from other questions the narrative has got to relate to the target

Arctic Monkeys- Why'd you Only Call Me When You're High, was
the advert that respondents chose as most appealing and most likely to persuade
them to buy the album. When I create an advert a digital I need to follow the
conventions that they have used for that album cover in order to appeal to my
demographic.
