Evaluation Question 3


Above is an embedment of my presentation which contains comments from my demographic on the strengths and weaknesses of my music video and digipak. From this comments I have reflected on my work and understood what I have done successfully and what I could have improved on. These comments have helped me to reflect what I could have done if we were to be given the same task again.
I produced this question in a presentation format as, it is fairly simple and easier for audiences to read the comments I have received and my own comments on what I have understood by these comments.

Music Video Structure

Katy Perry- Roar   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CevxZvSJLk8 Music videos often contain a number of different elements: Performance, Narrative, Thematic, Symbolic. Performance- In Katy Perry's Roar video she is seen to appear performing in an unusual surrounding, which in this case is a jungle. The video contains many close ups of the artist and there is a particular visual style that seems to go with the artist which is her clothing. Katy is the figure of an erotic gaze, an object of male desire which is a voyeuristic gaze. Narrative- The video tells a story that is featured in the lyrics or is suggested by the lyrics. In this music video binary opposites are used to show the day vs the night. Also Todorov's narrative theory is shown in this music video as, at the beginning there is a clear equilibrium which clearly sets the scene with both male and female being in the frame, a disruption then occurs when the tiger comes on screen sweeping the male of his feet.
