Within this prezi I have included Goodwin's ideas in order to understand how his ideas apply to the structure of a music video. I believe that applying Goodwin's ideas has allowed for more depth within the analysis and allowed me as a student to gain a clear understanding of how a music video is put together and how I can use each of these elements and apply them into my planning and research to produce my music video.

This is another prezi which I created to understand how a music video is constructed. After creating all of these prezi's I have figured out how different music videos in the same genre are put together and what elements they do the same and what they each do differently, and how I can use this analysis and apply it to my research and planning in order to create an effective indie genre music video.

Above is an embedment of my prezi which I constructed together in order to understand how a music video is produced and how narrative, performance and symbolic elements are used. This isn't a very detailed analysis as I did not include Goodwin's ideas, I produced this to get a basic and general idea of music video structure.

Below is an embedded prezi I created in order to show my understanding of how a music video is constructed. I began using basic titles which included the basic structure, performance, narrative etc. Then I included Goodwin's key ideas to identity and how each of his ideas were constructed in the music video.This allowed me to gain a clear understanding of how a music video was structured and why each element was used in order to appeal to the demographic.  

After researching about the indie genre, I produced a mindmap summarising the typical features, artists who produce music of the indie genre, typical settings, codes and conventions and iconography. This allows me to plan my music video and help me to decide whether to conform or challenge conventions and what elements I will need to include within my music video. 

Katy Perry- Roar   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CevxZvSJLk8 Music videos often contain a number of different elements: Performance, Narrative, Thematic, Symbolic. Performance- In Katy Perry's Roar video she is seen to appear performing in an unusual surrounding, which in this case is a jungle. The video contains many close ups of the artist and there is a particular visual style that seems to go with the artist which is her clothing. Katy is the figure of an erotic gaze, an object of male desire which is a voyeuristic gaze. Narrative- The video tells a story that is featured in the lyrics or is suggested by the lyrics. In this music video binary opposites are used to show the day vs the night. Also Todorov's narrative theory is shown in this music video as, at the beginning there is a clear equilibrium which clearly sets the scene with both male and female being in the frame, a disruption then occurs when the tiger comes on screen sweeping the male of his feet.
